Sestri Levante & Moneglia

Sestri Levante is famous for its two bays: the "Baja delle Favole" (bay of fairy tales) and the "Baja del Silenzio" (bayof silcence). Baja delle favole was named after the Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen. Many hotels with long traditions are located in historical houses and big villas in the historical center or on the hills of the city. Hiking paths and trails to "punta manara", "punta baffe" or "monte castello" are popular with hikers or mountain bikers.

The name Moneglia originates from „monilia“ which means "jewels".The famous painter Luca Cambiaso (1527-1585) and the poet Felice Romani (1789-1865) were both born in this town.  You can reach Moneglia by a tunnel. It is surrounded by the two hills Punta Moneglia and Punta Rospo. Two castles on top of the hills overlook the town and its inhabitants. Moneglia has kept its originality and is unspoiled by mass tourism. Even today it seems to us as if Moneglia is in a deep sleep like "Sleeping Beauty". The town enchants with its historicalcity center, which is surrounded by hills with vineyards, pines and chestnut trees. In summer you can spend your time at the beautiful beach of Moneglia and bathe in the clear blue sea.
