Varese Ligure

Varese Ligure is the most northern commune in the province of La Spezia in Liguria. The agriculture was converted to ecological production and Varese Ligure was certified according to the sustainability standard ISO 14001 and the European Eco-Management and Audit Scheme EMAS. Furthermore, it received the accreditation "bandiera arrangione", by the Touring Club Italiano, as a village “especially worth visiting”.

Varese Ligure has a medieval historical center and the "borgo rotondo", a ring of small arcade houses. At the main "piazza" (place) you will find the small Fieschi-Castello with two different towers. Not far away from here you can walk across the "Ponte Grecino", a medieval bridge of stones across the river. If you love to go hiking you can walk the famous "Alta Via dei Monti Liguri". Motorcyclists will also enjoy the curvy roads from the coast to the backland.
